Recorded Dec. 12, 2014

The trio, who formed in 1997 and moved to the mainland from their hometown of Kailua Kona, Hawaii in 1999, pressed pause after the release of their fifth album, Pink Crustaceans and Good Vibrations, in 2008. There was a sense of fatigue and disunity amongst the three musicians, who took some time off from music both apart and together before rejoining to create an EP, Stiches, in late 2010. The songs on that release re-energized the group, revealing an urgent desire to make a new album that reflected where they are in their lives and career now. After some tour dates in support of the EP, Pepper sat down and focused on their sixth album, a self-titled released that swings open the door on this new chapter.

Pepper formed in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii in the late ‘90s. Having grown up surfing on the island, it’s no wonder their music is a mix of rock, reggae, dancehall, punk, and mellow island rhythm roots to create their own truly diverse sound. The band is comprised of guitarist/vocalist Kaleo Wassman, bassist/vocalist Bret Bollinger and drummer Yesod Williams. Over the last two decades the band has toured the world with contemporaries such as Slightly Stoopid, Sublime With Rome, Flogging Molly, 311, The Expendables and Passafire.

This show was recorded December 12th at the Belly Up in Solana Beach, CA and captures the party that is a Pepper live show. Featuring such favorites as “Ashes”, “No Control”, and “Nice Time” and “Give It Up”.
