The members of John Brown’s Body have taken to calling the band’s progressive reggae sound “Future Roots Music.” Together for almost three decades the band beautifully fuses roots, reggae, and dub with an intricately balanced weaving of vocals, percussion, keyboard, bass, guitar, and a stunning 3-piece horn section that ties it all together. Formed in the mid-’90s, when there wasn’t much of a prominent reggae scene in the US, JBB was one of a handful of groups that began touring nationally and created distinctly American reggae. Their unique approach to reggae paved the way for the now thriving US reggae scene.
