“Noisy, rocking, trash, garage, mayhem, 60's punk sci-fi dance music.”
That is how guitar player and co-lead vocalist Jesse Pryor from SHAKE BEFORE US describes their debut album produced by John “Swami” Reis (Rocket From The Crypt, Hot Snakes). Recorded live directly to a vintage 8-track reel-to-reel, the album is a perfect snap shot of the band at their best… LIVE.
Their “get buzzed and turn up the fuzz” attitude has yielded true tales of lost faith, booze, drugs, sin and self-doubt. Their songs are a maniacal mix of organ, guitar, dual howling vocals, deep drums and even deeper bass. They pair the past with the future for a sound that is vintage yet modern at the same time.
The band was formed in San Diego California when 4 friends - Jesse Pryor (gtr/vox), Will A Lerner (keys/vox), Kevin “Cuz” Donahue (bass) and Fonda (drums) - found they shared a common love for vintage organs, hollow body guitars, Theremins, cool ties and a red sparkle drum kit. They use all of these to their fullest to create a live show that Will describes as, “a rock revival where salvation is firmly delivered through a relentless wall of sound… Uplifting, yet strangely unnerving at the same time.” With Cuz's departure, SBU now includes John Falk on bass.
