As seen on KPBS' ''Live at the Belly Up'', San Diego's Steve Poltz is one of the most beloved songwriters of his generation. As both a solo artist and with his cult legend band The Rugburns, Steve's music has enjoyed long stretches in the Billboard top ten, gobbled up acres of mainstream radio across the country and appeared in scores of television shows, commercials and movies. He has collaborated with everyone from Jewel to Glenn Tillbrook to Mojo Nixon, and his legendary live show has earned him a ferociously loving and loyal global fan base. For Steve's annual birthday shows at the Belly Up he has been joined by such friends as Tristan Prettyman, Glen Phillips, Bob Schneider, A.J. Croce, Peter Case and Anya Marina. Tonight on the Belly Up stage Steve plays fan favorites from his solo albums before crowd surfing over to the Belly Up bar top for his hit, “Dick’s Automotive” from The Rugburns days.
