X have returned with ALPHABETLAND, the Los Angeles punk band’s first album in 35 years with their original lineup. The group (Exene Cervenka, John Doe, Billy Zoom, and DJ Bonebrake) recorded the LP with producer Rob Schnapf. It is their first album since 1993’s Hey Zeus! and the first time this lineup has made new music together since 1985’s Ain’t Love Grand.
We are pleased to offer a deluxe bundle, which features the brand new studio album, ALPHABETLAND as well Live at The Belly Up, recorded on December 19, 2010.
The 25 song live set showcases the band’s sonically groundbreaking sound. Their songs are as compelling and avant-garde today as they were in 1977. X’s first two studio albums, Los Angeles and Wild Gift, were ranked by Rolling Stone as being among the 500 greatest albums of all time. Los Angeles was ranked 91st on Pitchfork’s Top 100 Albums of the 1980’s. The set list for this special performance includes the band’s most popular songs including “Los Angeles,” “Johnny Hit and Run Pauline” and “Soul Kitchen.”
